“The chain of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.”
-Samuel Johnson

We focus on our strengths not only because it gives us more pleasure than dealing with our weaknesses, but also because we are creatures of habit. Once a routine has been set and our infrastructure is neatly in place, we usually keep things just the way they are as long as the results are reasonably good and no big problem poses a threat.

We choose comfort of the status quo over the risk and fear of change, even when change is exactly what we need.

“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over.”
-John Wooden

“Excellence is achieved by the mastery of the fundamentals.”
-Vince Lombardi

“The nature of man is always the same; it is their habits that separate them.”
-Confucius

“Habits change into character.”
-Ovid

“It’s easier to prevent bad habits than to break them.”
-Benjamin Franklin

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
-Aristotle
